The field of neuroscience is rapidly helping us to understand how the brain functions and learns. In this interview, nouspod talks to internationally recognised neuroscientist, Dr Norman Doidge, about brain plasticity and the implications for modern education.

The four podcasts in this series ask some hard questions relating to reliability of findings, the nature of how we learn, the dangers of communication fragments and the impact of modern computing technologies on learning and attention.
Are the findings on brain plasticity backed up by hard science? The claim is that the brain is always learning how to learn. How exactly does this work?
Part 2 - Reshaping how we learn
Technology is reshaping the nature of how we learn. Are there risks? What about the "orienting response". Are we being conditioned to respond to smaller and smaller pieces of information? What effect is this having on us?
Part 3 - Communication fragments
Communication these days seems more about fragments. Are we missing something? Do we now store more information outside of our heads than inside?
Part 4 - Who should know about brain plasticity?
Should all educators know about brain plasticity? What's the benefit? Should we look back onto older methods like rote learning in light of this information?
