When we think of learning, we immediately think of schools, or perhpas technical colleges or universities. But recent research in brain science tells us that so much of how we learn is formed whilst we are very young. Of course, we can still keep learning for our whole lives, but there is little doubt that critical periods for our brains exist mainly when we're kids.
And another thing is that so many behaviour problems we see in young people may actually be the result of a learning difficulty, rather than just bad behaviour or "attention deficit".
Organisations such as LearnFast Australia play a pivotal role in providing specialist services to the community which schools may not able to provide due to student teacher ratios, funding, or organisational structure.
Nouspod recently had the chance to find out more about what LearnFast does, and how it may be able to help you, or someone you know. In the following 5 minute interviews, nouspod talks with clinical director, Devon Barnes.
